According to Reuters, a man named Nitesh Dhanjani has been able to send wireless codes over the Internet to the Tesla Model S that has enabled him to unlock the car’s doors.
Reuters said the six-digit passcode Dhanjani used to send wireless codes that unlocked the car’s doors wasn’t the only security flub Dhanjani, a Tesla Model S owner, found. Dhanjani thinks more should be at stake for a $100,000 car than a six-character static password.
Thankfully, Tesla drivers should feel safe knowing the car’s electronic key fob is still required to actually start or drive the vehicle, so would be computer hackers would only be able to take things left inside the car.
No word yet from Tesla as to whether they have looked in to Dhanjani’s claims. Tesladaily.com will update you if the popular automaker comments on this issue.
