Thousands of acres of land on the west side of Albuquerque, N.M. are being proposed for Tesla’s $5 billion Gigafactory.
The site has been chosen by city leaders who want to see the dream project land in Albuquerque.
New Mexico is one of four states in the running for the Gigafactory, which would create 6,500 jobs and produce more lithium-ion batteries than ever imagined.
The Albuquerque land in question consists of thousands of acres of land owned by Astrico Land Grant located south of Interstate 40.
The city’s west side is poised for growth and development, according to Ken Sanchez, City Council President, who added the Gigafactory would transform the area into an economic hub.
Arizona, Texas and Nevada are also being considered for the Gigafactory.
