Elon Musk is not a fan of HBO’s new show “Silicon Valley.”
The Tesla scion called the show a soap opera, but not the kind he would particularly want to watch.
He told RE/Code reporter Nellie Bowles that the show incorrectly portrayed software engineers because the ones he knows are more helpful and thoughtful. Smarter too.
Musk compared the HBO show, created by Mike Judge of “Beavis and Butthead” fame, to a weaker version of the crazy psychedelic desert party Burning Man.
“You could take the craziest L.A. party and multiply it by a thousand, and it doesn’t even get (sic) close to what’s in Silicon Valley.”
“Silicon Valley” is a satiric take on the computer industry featuring a nerdy Mark Zuckerberg type who owns a site that compresses files.
Though most HBO shows like “Girls” and “Game of “Thrones” attain cult-like popularity, it’s apparent that at least Musk doesn’t give the show the lofty praise usually assigned to the multiple Emmy-winning cable giant.
And if Musk doesn’t like it, that probably means his throngs of followers won’t either. Expect this “Silicon Valley” to drop faster than a Showtime series.
