Need further proof that Tesla is trying to take the Chinese marketplace by storm?
Look no further than news that came out of China today that China Unicom Ltd. was partnering with Tesla to offer 3G and 4G telecommunication services to Tesla’s sold in the world’s most populated region.
Though details were scarce on the proposed deal, it just one more feather in Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s hat. The billionaire has been in China touting the Model S, saying yesterday at a well-attended conference that he plans to be building cars in the area for at least four years.
Tesla is close to finishing building its first Chinese shop in Shanghai and has been meeting will the Sinopec Corp. about building a network of charging stations across the country in cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
The first Tesla Model S cars in the “Middle Kingdom” have started shipping to green car enthusiasts in Beijing and Shanghai.
