Have you ever wondered what it is like to own a Tesla Model S?
One clever owner named “The Oatmeal” has illustrated his story, calling his Model S a “magical space car.”
The Oatmeal starts his story by explaining that is Model S is a fully electric car made by Tesla Motors. Next he shows how he plugs his car very simply into a regular outlet in his garage.
The Oatmeal has gotten over the anxiety he had about the range of his Tesla because he charges his car every night and takes advantage of free Tesla Superchargers.
“I use Tesla’s Supercharger stations if I am planning a long trip. The Supercharger stations are free to use and are typically located at the halfway points between major cities.” The Oatmeal says. “I’ve used Superchargers to top of my battery in as little as twenty minutes, which is just enough time to grab a coffee and/or go to terrible things to a truck stop toilet.”
The Oatmeal’s story gets more magical when he describes his childhood. He tried to help his step dad with his car, but he was no good at automotive maneuvers, so his dad demoted him from “‘automotive assistant’ to ‘idiot who holds the flashlight.’’
After disappointing his stepfather, The Oatmeal turned his eye to geeky pursuits like “programming, games and graphic designs.”
But now, thanks to Tesla, he knows more about his car than most “car guys.”
For that reason, he loves his Tesla, even though he’s not thrilled with the name. Instead, The Oatmeal has dubbed his electric car his “Intergalactic SpaceBoat of Light and Wonder,” or sometimes, “Electric Cruisebeast.”
Sometimes, just for fun (or when he’s yelling at motorists) he calls his Model S “I’m in outerspace, Motherfucker.” Because, who doesn’t want to feel like they are in space sometimes. Or cuss. Just because.
Mostly, The Oatmeal feels like his Tesla is a “fancy space car from the future.”
We agree, Mr. The Oatmeal. Sometimes the best things are those that aren’t meant to be understood by the masses. Just loved and accepted. Even if they do seem different and from another planet.
That’s why we, too, like Tesla. We like things that are outside the box, creative, fresh and new.
A little weird doesn’t hurt either.
